Here are some terms used within the Industry.
STANDARD CUTTING RULE
- 1.5pt advantageous for tight bends and narrow areas.
- 2pt can be for carton boards, polycarb, polypropylene, self-adhesive material etc.
- 3pt suitable for corrugated boards, core flute, thicker materials.
- 4pt very heavy duty work.
An abundance of heights available. Height is determined by the cutting rule used and board thickness.
Helps to ensure a positive fold for heavier boards. Available in a variety of heights and types.
Used for many purposes, tearing, reverse folding, gluing. Can also be used to emboss product codes into material.
For heavier boards rather than crease, a score cuts half way into the board to enable it to fold.
Kiss cut is for most self-adhesive work where the blade cuts the adhesive but not the backing paper..
Die cut is when the blade penetrates right through the material for ease of stripping.
